THE RACERS
director Henry Hathaway, 1955

Henry Hathaway has always been one of my favorite, albeit maybe minor, directors. (Another one of the breed is J. Lee Thomson.)
Hathaway was among the first to have Saul design (uncredited) titles.
Very simple, very cheap, very smart and very effective.
The film is almost impossible to get; I only have an Academy version which I considered myself lucky to have scored on eBay.
This is a prelude of the Cinerama/Ultra Panavision monster vehicle Grand Prix, officially directed by John Frankenheimer,
where Saul Bass did truly magnificent things.
