keeping you in the dark:
the Looniverse

director Alfred Hitchcock, 1959

Bet you never realized this:
"N by NW" is not a valid compass point
but it does sound much better than "nor'nor'west by north"
(a Shakespeare quote—he never cared what it meant, as long as it sounded right)

North By Northwest
Ad executive Cary Grant finds himself chased by criminals, framed for murder, sharing a sleeper berth with Eva Marie Saint, dusted by a crop plane and on top of Mt. Rushmore in Hitchcock's gem of thrills and mystery. With James Mason, Leo G. Carroll, Martin Landau.
DVD136 min. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital 5.1, French Dolby Digital mono; Subtitles: English, French; audio commentary; "making of" documentary; theatrical trailers; TV spot; photo gallery; isolated music score; production notes; scene access. Amazon.usa

What I like?
A very popular Hitchcock, and script (however preposterous), music and cinematography are great, as is the acting; specifically James Mason. Still, for a movie with the Mount Rushmore scene Hitchcock had been talking about all his life, really not so great.
The plane attack on old R.O.T. in the cornfield is a classic.
